Aquatics Summer 2008 Schedule
Summer is swim season! The City of Rancho Cucamonga offers an extensive aquatics program during the hot summer months. We use the swimming pools at Alta Loma High School, Etiwanda High School and Los Osos High School during the summer months to offer a variety of aquatic opportunities for anyone 6 months and up!!
The swim season runs each summer from mid June through August.
Due to the popularity of the swim classes, we recommend that you sign up for all sessions at one time, however, if your child moves to a different level than anticipated, be sure to let office staff know so that we may accommodate you. All registrations will be accepted on a first come basis. Registration locations and dates:
"Learn to Swim" classes will be held Monday through Friday in five (5) two-week sessions. Times and age groups vary, so check the schedule below for items and ages that fit your needs. The fee for each two-week session is $45.00. There is an additional $10.00/per class non-resident fee for participants not living in Rancho Cucamonga.

Swim Class Registration
One Saturday only, May 17, 2008, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon,
only residents may register, at the Central Park (11200 Base Line
Road) or register on-line at RCpark.com
from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Registration will resume for
residents and non-residents Tuesday, May 27, 2008, through August
15, 2008, at Central Park and on-line, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. -

To Swim" Group Class Descriptions

This class involves parent and child participation and stresses water familiarization and safety. Verification of age may be required at the first class. |
| Parent & Guppy |
|
|
This class involves parent and child and is for those children whose chin does not clear a height of 36 inches (water level). The class introduces your child to the water, attempts to remove the child's fear of water, and introduces beginning swim skills. |
| Tadpoles |
Ages: 3 - 5 yrs |
|
Introduces your child to the water, attempts to remove the child's fear of water, and teaches beginning swim skills. Child's chin must clear a height of 36 inches (water level) - no exceptions. |
| Pollywogs |
Ages: 3 - 5 yrs |
|
Designed for those who have successfully passed the tadpole class. Instruction will be offered in floating, kicking, and the beginning crawl stroke. Child's chin must clear 36 inches (water level) - no exceptions |
| Jellyfish *NEW* |
Ages: 6 yrs & Up |
| This is a pre-requiste for beginning Frogs course for children 6 years and older. Students will learn the crawl stroke and how to float on their back and stomach. |

This is a beginning course for children 6 years and older. Students will learn the crawl stroke, how to float on their back and stomach, and the survival float. |
| Sea Horses |

Introduces your child to the backstroke and deep water. |
| Seals |
Ages: 6 yrs & Up |
|
Must have successfully passed Sea Horses. The elementary backstroke and the breaststroke will be introduced as well as diving, treading water with an alternate kick, and swimming under water. |
| Dolphins |
Ages: 6 yrs & Up |
|
Must have successfully passed Seals. Students will be taught the side stroke and improve their crawl stroke and elementary backstroke. Skills in treading water, diving, swimming under water, sculling, as well as reaching and throwing assists will be taught. |
| Whales |
Ages: 6 yrs & Up |
|
Must have successfully passed Dolphins. Students will be taught the dolphin and rotary kicks and endurance will be emphasized. Students will also be taught to recognize signs of spinal injury. |
| Sharks |
Ages: 6 yrs & Up |
|
Must have successfully passed Whales. Students will attempt to increase their endurance (students will train for a 30 minute swim), perfect all strokes. Learn an approach & dive from low boards, the stride jump, tread water for 5 minutes, learn a back stroke turn, and to check for heart rate. |
| Introduction to Diving |
Ages: 10 yrs & Up |

This course will introduce basic diving techniques. All participants will be required to successfully complete a deep-water swimming test for entry to this class. |
| Pre-competition Class |
Ages: 10 yrs & Up |
|
This class is for those who intend to try out for a competitive swim team. All four competition strokes will be worked on (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly). Child must already possess advanced swimming skills and knowledge of all strokes, excluding butterfly. Starts, finishes and turns will also be taught. |
| Teen Swim |
Ages: 12- 17 |

Intended for beginning swimmers, this class will be taught at a teenage level. Breathing, floating, and beginning crawl stroke as well as backstroke will be taught. Instruction will take place in shallow water and students will be introduced to deeper water. |
| Adult Swim |
Ages: Adult |

There is no pre-requisite for this class. All levels from beginner to advanced will be provided. The following strokes will be taught: crawl stroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, backstroke; plus how to swim under water, float, and how to dive. Learn quickly and easily from experienced instructors. |

Come on out and get some great exercise and refresh yourself after a long day at the office or home. Lap swimers must purchase a lap swim pass to participate. Space is limited and is on a first come first serve basis. The cost is $3.00 per one hour time slot. A minimum 5-hour pass must be purchased. There is no instruction
involved.

Semi-Private Lessons
Would you or your child like to further enhance your swim skills? For this reason, semi-private swim lessons are available on Saturday mornings at the Alta Loma High School Pool and Los Osos High School. Each lesson is 30-minutes.
Open Recreation Swimming
Join us for recreational swimming every Monday through Friday from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Alta Loma High School and NEW location at is Los Osos High School on Sundays from 11:00am - 3:00pm. Daily admission is $2.00 per person at the pool. Or for considerable savings, discount passes are available for $30.00 (20 admissions per pass) and $18.00 (12 admissions per pass). Note: an adult must accompany children under the age of
7 years old.
Passes may be purchased for individual or family use.
Pool Party Session
Do you want to have a Pool Party for a birthday or other occasion? You can register for a pool time, complete with lifeguards and pool toys, during regular swim registration hours.
Pool Party Sessions are available on Saturdays and Sundays.
