Q: When can I register for Playschool?


Playschool enrollment is open until all spaces are filled, you can pick up a registration packet beginning March 10, 2008 from Lions Center East and Central Park. Registration for the 2008-2009 school year begins:

April 12: PRIORITY REGISTRATION for returning residents and their siblings
April 14 : New residents
April 21 : Non-residents

Q: How do I register for Playschool?


All participants may register at Lions Center East in person Monday-Thursday from 8:00am-3:00pm, mail-in to 9191 Base Line Road, fax-in to (909) 477-2791 and in the drop box located in the Lions East parking lot.   All registrations must include the following:

  • A completed registration form (click here to download the form).
  • Proof of age
  • Proof of residency (checks and drivers license are not accepted)
  • $30 Resident/$40 Non-Resident deposit for each child per class.

Registrations submitted after August 1, 2008 will require that the first tri-annual payment be made in full.  Please contact the registration office for exact fees.


Q: When are my payments due?


Payments for Playschool are billed tri-annually and cover a period of time.  You do not need to register for each trimester, you will be billed and sent an invoice a few weeks before the payment due date.  The payment schedule for the 2008-2009 school year is as follow:

  • August 14, 2008: September 2, 2008 - November 28, 2008
  • November 13, 2008: December 1, 2008 - March 6, 2009
  • February 19, 2009: March 9, 2009 - May 28, 2009

Q: Do I get prorated for missed classes?


Unfortunately, Playschool will not be able to prorate any missed classes due to illness, vacations or other circumstances.  Playschool does prorate for holidays the City observers such as Veterans Day and Memorial Day.


Q: What do I do if my child contracts a communicable disease?


Children who contract a contagious illness (chicken pox, lice, etc.) are required to be reported immediately to the Playschool Office by the parent/guardian. Playschool Instructors are required to inform all parents/guardians of the infected/sick participants’ condition and post a notice on the classroom door.  The infected/sick child will not be allowed to return to class without a doctor’s note.  Children with chicken pox are required to have the sores scabbed over prior to returning to class. Contagious illness, disease or condition instances are handled on a case-by-case basis.

Q: I don’t know who my child’s instructor is?

Q: What do I do if my child needs to take medication during class?


City staff, contractors, and or volunteers are strictly prohibited from dispensing medication of any kind (including scheduled or emergency medications).  Parents/Guardians are required and responsible to plan child medication dosing around the class schedule.  Parents/Guardians are instructed to inform the Playschool Instructor/Aide of any kind of medication the participant is currently taking and all side effects that can affect the child’s behavior.


Q: What if my child has a severe allergy?


In cases of severe allergies, all participants that attend the classroom with the child who has the allergy will be prohibited from bringing such food items into the classroom. Playschool’s first priority is to ensure the safety and well being for all its participants.

Q: When is the first day of Playschool?


The first day of Playschool for the 2008-2009 school year is Tuesday, September 2, 2008


Q: When is Playschool Graduation?


Playschool Graduation for the graduating class of 2007-2008 is Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the R.C. Epicenter.  Parents can expect to receive an invitation and other information the last week of April.


Q: When is the last day of Playschool?


The last day of Playschool for the 2007-2008 school year is Thursday, May 29, 2008


Q: When does Playcamp 2008 start?


Playcamp 2008 starts Monday, June 16, 2008 and ends Friday, August 8, 2008.  Registration begins Tuesday, May 27, 2008 for residents.


Q: Which holidays does Playschool observe?


There will be no Playschool on the following days for the 2007-2008 school year:

  • November 12, 2007: Veterans Day
  • November 19-23, 2007: Thanksgiving
  • December 24, 2007-January 4, 2008: Winter Break
  • January 14, 2008: Martin Luther King Day
  • February 18, 2008: President’s Day
  • March 31-April 4, 2008: Spring Break
  • May 26, 2008: Memorial Day
